Proudly Zimbabwean but celebrating Independence Day with a heavy heart

Now flies the flag our nations glory. We’ll live with pride, inside our hearts. As we all stand to build our nation. This our land, our Zimbabwe. Though I may go to distant borders. My soul will yearn for this my home. For time and space may seperate us. And yet she holds my heart alone. We’ve been through it all. We’ve had our days. We’ve had our falls. Now the time has come for us to stand. To stand as one…. Henry Olonga

To the land I call my home. Happy Independence Day.

Today I celebrate independence with a heavy heart. Sadenned by the loss of lives that has occurred in past couple of days. My heart cries for our loss as a people.  The loss of lives, the loss of hope. I cry for what has been taken from us, within our borders and beyond!!!

I quoted Henry Olonga’s song because it means so much to me. It speaks to my heart. Because though I may stay in distant land I long for your my beautiful country.

My Zimbabwe

Today I pray for our freedom, for peace and for healing. I pray for hope, I pray for faith, faith that the lord will hear our cries for we have cried enough. We have been treated like shit (excuse my French) for long enough. We have been burnt, abused, killed and enough is enough.

Happy Independence Day Zimbabweans. I say to you, do not lose hope, keep your faith, show love always and to all my other african brothers who have lost their brothers and sisters may God be with us and may he save us, protect us and keep is safe!!! #NoToXenophobia

Thanks Miriam for encouraging us. Today at church the Sermons was on Hebrews 11 vs 1 and 6. What impressed me the most was the definition of faith.
Proof of things not revealed to our five senses and how faith perserves as fact the things that senses cannot confirm.
I hope and yearn for that NO SENSE ATTITUDE in order for me to survive.
You nailed it baby girl. I owe my no sense attitude to those who brought about independence in Zimbabwe and all other African countries including South Africa.

Beautifully presented, Miri!! Very well done daughter!! This should inspire us to take full responsibility and accountability of our destiny as individuals and as a country.
Keep it up. We need such frequent ‘brain ticklish’ else we go into detrimental perpetual intellectual sleep.
